These photographs are the magical mirage that is prism perspective!
Displaying an aspect of reality hidden from our ordinary sensory awareness. Utilising the process of refraction with a triangular glass prism I transform scenery through chromatic abberation. Through the looking glass of the prism’s visual field images become overlay with accumulative technicolour layers of the Optical Spectrum.
I capture the brilliance of this phenomenon in shooting nature and landscapes through a prism. The contrast of white light streaming through the shadows of leaves creates what I call ‘Refractals’. Depending on the degree the light is dispersed by the prism, scenery can vary in abstraction that transform from recognisable features of terrain into transcendental forms, organic yet fantastic. These images have not been computer generated. Prism photography is naturally surreal, capturing the expression of light’s constitutional essence - colour!
